Susan
Alalade is the founder of Alalade Law Professional Corporation. She was a
student at the University of Benin, a reputable Federal University in Edo
State, Nigeria, West Africa. Susan Alalade's love and quest for humanity
started when she decided to return to school in 1997 to study law after
studying social work, a program that teaches human behavior. She obtained her
bachelor’s in law (L.L.B) in 2002 and was called to the Nigeria Bar Association
in 2004 after qualifying for the Bar. She was called to bar in 2000 as a
Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a common law
jurisdiction.
Susan Alalade started her law career as a State Counsel in the Office of The Public Defender (OPD), a department under the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, Nigeria. As a public defender, Susan Alalade provided legal services to the indigents in the society/ community. She would visit the prisons to ensure that she gets justice for the inmates who are imprisoned without going through the due process of trial. As a public defender, her job is to represent clients in all areas of law, in as much as they cannot afford a lawyer's service. She handled all areas of law, ranging from Family law, Criminal law, landlord and tenant, etc.
She relocated to Canada and continued pursuing her love for the legal world. She took the exams, qualified, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2016. She operated at the Law Office of Susan Alalade from 2016 to 2021 and has been practicing as a corporation since 2021.
Susan
Alalade, while in Canada and before her call to the Ontario Bar, worked at the Ministry
of Community and Social Services- The Family Responsibility Office for about 18
months. She also worked as a personal support worker, caring for people with
various physical needs.
Susan
Alalade was trained as a mediator in Nigeria and has also taken courses in alternative
dispute resolution. These experiences and knowledge have contributed to her
success as a lawyer in Canada. She is compassionate in law practice and aims to
bring smiles to clients.
During
my practice, I have handled many interesting and landmark cases, cutting across
all areas of the law. I am a highly ethical, organized, and passionate professional
with excellent managerial skills. I am able to deliver client-focused services
to high standards consistently.
I am a reliable, self-motivated, and friendly individual who takes pride in completing tasks to high standards and within targets and deadlines. I possess excellent organizational skills and use both human and material resources effectively and efficiently. I work very well under pressure and have a natural ability to build rapport with clients while keeping a keen eye on business opportunities.
